How to welcome sunshine, fresh air, and space back into your home.

If the spring sunshine feels amazing but also slightly overwhelming when you think of all the spring cleaning ahead of you, you are definitely not alone.

There is something about that first real hint of spring (especially here in Canada) that feels almost emotional. The light, the air, the whole world just feels different. And the yearly phenomenon where 10 degrees in the springtime feels like summer vacation but 10 degrees in the fall feels like the Arctic ๐Ÿ˜‚

In this blog post, Iโ€™m going to show you how to spring clean your home by starting with light, fresh air, and creating space. Not through overwhelm, but through simple, doable tasks that will help you Glow again. Weโ€™ll talk about why spring cleaning is less about cleaning and more about a fresh start and mental clarity. โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒธ

In this post…

I always remember the early spring afternoons where I open the windows, let sunlight pour across the floor, and I can just feel it. That quiet urge for a fresh start indoors. Not perfection. Not a deep cleaning marathon. Just space. Breathing room. A sense that our home could just be functional again.

Winter has a way of making us feel trapped. If this is you, you might like these popular blog posts:

How to Spring Clean Your Home With Light and Fresh Air

Spring cleaning used to feel overwhelming to me. I always picture Cinderella scrubbing every dusty corner from morning to night. But over time, especially after becoming a mom, Iโ€™ve learned that the most powerful resets begin with the environment.

Open windows change the whole mood of a house. When sunlight hits those simple areas of your home and highlight what matters… for me, it’s when the sunlight fills my living room from our bay window and shines on the family photos above our fireplace mantle.

And fresh air can feel so invigorating, even on the days when wellness feels like it’s hanging on by a thread and energy feels low.

This is why my approach to how to spring clean your home always starts right here:

  • Open every window you can, even for five minutes. I like to one room rotate every day.
  • Pull back curtains and blinds
  • Let natural light flood the room!

You might notice dust on a sill, or clutter in a corner. That’s your starting point.

Creating Space Instead of Just Cleaning

Spring cleaning for intentional living is not about doing more or cleaning more. Itโ€™s about creating space so your home supports your health, your motherhood, and your mental wellness.

For me, this looks like asking gentle questions as I move through a room: (Yep, channel your inner Marie Kondo!)

  • Is this serving our current season?
  • Does this support my calm mornings?

Sometimes spring cleaning means washing curtains and linens. But sometimes it means letting go of winter clothes, old toys, or things weโ€™ve emotionally outgrown. Itโ€™s not dramatic, but it is powerful.

Tip: If donating winter clothing, give it to your local food bank instead of a thrift store. Chances are they are low, and they are given to those who need it the most.

A box with shredded paper is shown opened to a collection of non toxic cleaning supplies from Ecokind Cleaning, including the replacement tabs for multipurpose cleaning spray, glass cleaner, bathroom cleaner, wool dryer balls, and laundry detergent strips laying on a striped cloth towel showing how gentle non toxic cleaning products can be a calming addition to spring cleaning routines. Non Toxic Swaps for Spring Cleaning

This is also where my favourite non-toxic swaps come in. Iโ€™m mindful of what I use while cleaning. Simple swaps like Eco-Kind Cleaning tablets or opening windows instead of masking smells feel aligned with our wellness journey in our home. The Gentle 7-Day Spring Cleaning Rhythm for Moms

If youโ€™re wondering how to spring clean your home without burning out, this is exactly why I created the 7 Day Spring Cleaning Reset Guide.

Instead of tackling everything at once, the guide walks you through one focused area each day, all grounded in lightening and clarifying your home. Itโ€™s designed for busy moms, real schedules, and real energy levels.

It pairs with my 7 Day Home Reset Guide, which is my go-to after any busy season when our home feels overwhelming just being inside it. The spring version simply leans into fresh air, sunshine, and the changing of the season.

Spring Cleaning as Wellness, Not a Chore

It’s not quite January as I write this, and the sun is shining through my window (a rare occasion where I live)… And this guide already makes me peacefully excited for spring cleaning, instead of overwhelmed. Spring cleaning isnโ€™t about control. Itโ€™s about creating an environment that may support calmer days and clearer thinking, with a fresh start. That’s what spring is all about, right?

And if this post resonated, Iโ€™d love for you to subscribe to Letโ€™s Glow. Subscribers get blog updates, exclusive discount codes, promotions, and simple wellness tips designed for busy moms who want to live lighter without the pressure.

A Spring Glow Encouragement

If all you do today is open a window, notice how the light hits your floor, and take a deep breath, that counts.

Spring cleaning does not have to be loud or exhausting to be meaningful. Your home does not need to be perfect to support your health, your family, and your Glow. It just needs space to breathe.
