Ever since I began taking a more holistic approach to my own wellness after postpartum depression, I have become more intentional about wellness in all areas of my life. From making more food from scratch like homemade bread to using high quality supplements every day that fit our lifestyle, I have learned the importance of focusing on what works for our family, especially during cold and flu season.
Over the past year, I’ve found simple practices and supports that have become meaningful for our family’s wellness habits. To read more about our wellness habits during seasons of sickness, read here.
Here are 5 seasonal wellness tips to get your family through cold and flu season.
Seasonal Wellness Supports for Families
1. Elderberry
Elderberry is something I like to keep on hand, especially during the fall and winter months. It’s commonly included in seasonal wellness routines, and I personally feel good about adding it to our approach to comfort and care during seasonal sickness. I use Organika’s Elderberry Cough Syrup because it’s easy for everyone to take and it fits easily into our routine. Plus, my kids say it tastes like a treat!

2. Echinacea
Echinacea is a beautiful herb that I enjoy using in tea or syrup form when I am feeling run down. I will link my favourite echinacea product here, available on Amazon or at Nature’s Fare.
3. Zinc and Vitamin C
These are two important nutrients that I try to include regularly as part of our general wellness habits, but I like to reach for it more consistently during cold and flu season. I like using Arbonne’s Immunity Fizz — containing a blend of Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Zinc and European Elder.
4. Vitamin D
Especially here in Canada, the shorter days mean we’re not getting as much sunshine. I keep Arbonne’s Vitamin D3 Spray in the cupboard and include it in our own routine.
(Organika has one too, I will link it here!) (Use code BRYANA25 for 25% off at checkout!)

5. Bee Propolis
My life changed when I discovered bee propolis — a substance that bees use in their hives. I personally find it soothing for my throat. I have linked the best one here from Organika (and they also have a kid’s version with added elderberry! My kids love this one). (Use code BRYANA25 for 25% off at checkout!)
Heading into Cold & Flu Season Can Be Intimidating
If you’re heading into fall with a little dread about all the sniffles and fevers, I get it. When my son was in daycare, I can’t even count the amount of times we got sick.
But you don’t have to just brace yourself for pain chaos. With these natural supports, you can feel more confident that you are helping support their comfort and well being, rather than just focusing on short-term symptom relief. I wrote more about this in my post about managing sickness in our house and why we chose to support it more intentionally.
If this post encouraged you, I’d love for you to subscribe to my blog for more wellness and motherhood rhythms. Or share this with a mom friend who’s also bracing for cold and flu season. We’re all in this together.
