The Christmas season always sneaks up faster than I expect. One minute it’s pumpkins and cinnamon simmer pots, the next I’m trying to keep the boys from redecorating the tree for the tenth time. Amid the wrapping paper chaos and cookie crumbs, I’ve realized that the simplest thing that changes the energy in our home during the holiday season is Christmas music.

When life feels loud, which is often during the winter, I put on Spotify and instantly feel a shift. A few soft notes, a gentle melody, and suddenly the room feels lighter, calmer, and full of warmth again. And we can’t deny the instant nostalgia and warmth we feel from a good Christmas playlist. Pair this with something to make your home smell like the holidays and you have the perfect recipe for making memories. You may also like this post about maintaining your mental health during the holidays here.
In this post, I’m going to show you how to use Christmas music to create calm and intentional joy during the holidays, and share my top Spotify playlists for a peaceful, faith-filled season.

1. Calm Instrumental Christmas Music
This one feels like snow falling quietly outside (and chestnuts roasting on an open fire?). I play it during nap time or while baking cookies, or while having my morning latte and I want to feel the holiday spirit. It’s perfect for keeping the energy mellow. If the holidays usually bring anxiety, let soft instrumentals be your cue to slow down and breathe.
Artists included: Jesse Brown, Winston Church, Winter Strings, The Piano Cover Guy
2. Soft Christmas Worship
These gentle worship songs with a Christmas message fill our home with peace and I just feel so grounded. I play this one when I’m working in the kitchen usually, like baking or cleaning. It is so helpful for reminding me that Christmas is about hope, not perfection.
Artists included: Hillsong Worship, Lauren Daigle, Phil Wickham, Sarah Sparks
3. Holiday Country Christmas Music
This one is perfect for a fun feeling Christmas playlist, like decorating, doing crafts (check out 10+ Christmas crafts I rounded up here!), or doing a deep clean. When I want something lighthearted, I go for country Christmas hits. They make cleaning and even wrapping gifts a lot more fun — and help me find a rhythm even when the to-do list feels long. Just try not to two step at the same time.
Artists included: Brad Paisley, Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken, for KING & COUNTRY

4. Christmas Classics
There’s something healing about the songs we grew up with. The moment I hear Bing Crosby or Celine Dion, , I’m a little kid again, sitting beside my grandmother’s tinsel decorated tree with my family. Nostalgia can be a wellness practice, too… it grounds us in gratitude.
Artists included: Brenda Lee, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra
Albums you might like:
- Elvis Presley
- Bing Crosby
- Frank Sinatra
- The Jackson 5
- The Beach Boys
- Vince Gill
- Mariah Carey
- Michael Bublé
- Céline Dion

5. Christian Christmas Music
This one is both fun and grounding and reminds us the real reason for the season… whether you celebrate the birth of Jesus at Christmas time or just love the holidays, this playlist will remind you how special the holidays are for everybody.
Artists included: Chris Tomlin, Simply Worship, Eliza King, Steven Curtis Chapman, Elevation Worship

6. (NEW!) Kids Christmas Playlists
I thought about this when I was writing this post, and strangely enough I got some feedback requesting some Christmas playlists for kids! Involving your kids in the season’s joy makes it so much more magical… so I have rounded up my favourite Spotify Kid’s Christmas Playlists!
- Best Kids Christian Christmas Music
- Toddler Christmas (This one includes our favourites like Laurie Berkner and The Wiggles!)
- Disney Christmas (This one also has favourites like Mickey Mouse and Anna from Frozen)
- Kids Christmas Stories (Some beautiful Christmas stories instead of music!)
- Blippi’s Christmas for Kids (As much as I resisted it, my kids adore Blippi)
