When I first started blogging as a stay-at-home mom, monetizing my site felt intimidating. Not because I didn’t have ideas, but because I already felt stretched thin. There are several ways to monetize your blog: ad revenue, affiliate marketing, sponsored posts, paid newsletters, an online store, and more. But between kids, homemaking, wellness routines, and trying to show up consistently for my blog, I didn’t want another complicated system to manage. I almost decided to not bother monetizing my blog with an online store. But then I looked into WooCommerce.
In this post, I’m going to show you why I decided to run my store with WooCommerce: how to monetize your blog, why it works so well for both new and established bloggers, and how it fits naturally into an intentional and most importantly low-stress blogging rhythm, especially for moms building something meaningful from home (in between naps, extracurriculars, and snacks).

If you’re here, it’s because you know it too: Blogging is a ton of work – but you want to make it worth it by monetizing and growing. But when you’re already running a blog, adding an online store doesn’t have to mean starting from scratch. That was the first thing that drew me to WooCommerce.
Searching for plugins, I recognized the name immediately. It’s a trusted platform, used by millions of site owners around the world, and it’s built specifically for WordPress.com. That alone gave me confidence that I wasn’t choosing something flimsy, short-lived, or difficult to manage.

This kind of flexibility mattered a lot to me as a busy mom blogger.

Building an online store can feel isolating and overwhelming if you’re doing it alone. One of the underrated benefits of WooCommerce is the size of its worldwide community.

How an online store can fit into intentional blogging

Starting small with your online store (especially as a busy blogger)
My biggest problem is I overwhelm myself with big ideas. But you don’t need dozens of products to begin your online store. You don’t need a perfectly branded storefront. You don’t need to have everything figured out.
