Why It’s Better Than Instagram, What I’M Sharing and How YOU CAN DO IT TOO

If you’ve found yourself here, welcome. Whether you’ve followed me over from Instagram, stumbled across this post, or we’ve connected through my wellness business—thank you for being here.
For a while, I felt like Instagram was “enough.” It was quick, convenient, and where I was already spending a lot of time. But lately, I’ve felt pulled to something deeper—something more mine. Social media can be loud, fast, and honestly, limiting. There’s only so much I can say in a caption or a story before it gets lost in the scroll.
So, I’m starting up a blog again.
This blog wasn’t born out of a desire to add one more thing to my already full plate—trust me, with two little boys and a busy household, my hands are more than full. Instead, it came from a deeper need: a need for space. A space to breathe, to reflect, and to write with intention. More importantly, it’s a space where I can go deeper into the things I’m learning, open up about what I’m struggling with, and document what I’m healing from. Ultimately, I hope that by sharing these pieces of my journey, I can help someone else feel a little less alone along the way.
Surprisingly, I actually used to blog – once last year and another time years ago… but back then, I did it just for the sake of writing. There wasn’t a clear direction or real purpose behind it. It was a creative outlet, and while there’s nothing wrong with that, and it actually felt really good, never knew who I was writing for or what I was really offering.
Why This time is different
Now, I have purpose. I’ve walked through hard things, grown in my faith, wrestled through identity shifts, healed through postpartum struggles, and built a life I genuinely love. I’m not just sharing to share, I’m sharing to serve.
And that feels even better!
To bring real value to women who feel like I did: overwhelmed, unsure, but deeply hungry for joy, peace, health, and truth.
I’m writing here because…
Social media is great, but it’s not mine. At any moment, it could be gone or changed beyond recognition. This blog is my little corner of the internet, where no algorithm decides who sees what.
I have more to say than what fits in a story or reel. I want to share my journey with motherhood, mental health, hormone healing, faith, homemaking, growing my business, and becoming the woman I was created to be… and everything inbetween.
I want to build a true community. Not just followers or viewers, but women who are walking similar paths, who want intentional lives, and who are craving a little more peace, purpose, and honesty. I’m building something. I want to create more traffic to my resources and links so that the work I pour into helping others can actually reach them. And yes, part of that is building income from home in a way that aligns with my values.
I have more to say than what fits in a story or reel.
Let’s Glow

This blog will be a mix of real life, easy recipes I make every day, wellness, systems that help me stay sane, and the honest (sometimes chaotic) behind-the-scenes of trying to show up for my family and myself every day.
If you’re here for more than just the highlight reel that is social media, you’re in the right place.
And if you’re thinking about starting your own blog, maybe to create something outside of social media or to share your story too, I’ve included the exact checklist I used to get mine up and running again.
Benefits of having a blog as a content creator or affiliate/network marketer
1. You Own the Space
Social media platforms come and go, or change their algorithms overnight. Your blog is your own piece of the internet. No one can shadowban it, delete your content, or control your visibility.
2. Long-Form Storytelling
People crave real connection and long-form content. Our brains are tired of 7 second reels. A blog gives you room to go deeper than a caption or story. You can share your full journey, explain your why, educate your audience, and bring real value that lasts longer than a fleeting post.
3. Build Trust Through Value
By consistently offering helpful content—tips, routines, reviews, behind-the-scenes—you build authority and trust with your audience. And trust leads to conversions.
4. Content That Works While You Sleep
Unlike Instagram stories that vanish in 24 hours, or posts/carousels that eventually disappear in the algorithm, blog posts live on. When someone searches a problem you’ve solved, your blog can show up months or years later. It’s long-term marketing. (This is why SEO is so important — more on that later!)
5. Boosts Link Visibility
Let’s be honest—Instagram limits where you can place your links. Your blog? No restrictions. You can link to your affiliate products, free guides, sign-ups, and more—all while giving context and personality behind the link.
6. Improves SEO + Google Traffic
Every blog post is a chance to show up in a Google search. That means new people discovering your content, your brand, and your business, even if they’ve never followed you on social. You are tapping into a new market of millions of users.
7. Email List Integration
Blogs are one of the best places to grow your email list. Add opt-ins like freebies, guides, or newsletters, and you can nurture your audience directly in their inbox—no algorithm needed.
8. Showcases Your Brand and Voice
Your blog lets you set the tone and aesthetic for your brand. From colors and fonts to the vibe of your writing, it’s a full experience that gives people a feel for who you are.
9. Perfect for Repurposing
One blog post can turn into:
- Instagram carousel
- Reel script
- Email newsletter
- Facebook post
- Pinterest pin
You’re creating a content hub that fuels all your other platforms.
It’s the perfect place to put all your perfect ideas and go back on them when you need inspiration for more content. And just because you posted a blog post about it before, doesn’t mean you can’t talk about it again. It’s your life experience, talk about things as often as you want!
10. Creates Real Community
With comments, longer-form responses, and the chance to lead people back again and again, your blog can be a gathering place for like-minded people who truly connect with your message.
What I did to start up my blog again
Here is a quick list on what I did to start up my blog again in less than 10 minutes. Once this is all done all you have to to is customize and create your posts (that’s a bit more time consuming, but it’s the fun part!)
1. Choose a Domain Name
- Pick a name that fits your brand and feels like you
- Keep it simple, memorable, and aligned with your message
- Buy the domain (super important!) – Make sure you don’t skip this step!
- Sign up for a Bluehost plan
2. Set Up Hosting with Bluehost
- Connect your domain
- Use their WordPress integration for easy setup
- Contact support if needed — they’re super helpful!
3. Buy a WordPress Theme
- Choose a clean, beautiful theme from a site like Creative Market
- Download the .zip file for easy upload to WordPress
- Save time by starting with a ready-made design
4. Install the Genesis Framework
- Download Genesis from StudioPress
- Upload it to WordPress (but don’t activate it)
- Upload and activate your child theme (your actual design)
5. Activate Theme + Starter Pack
- Run the theme’s setup wizard
- Choose a layout you love
- Let it install demo content + recommended plugins
- Remove anything you don’t need
6. Add Legal Pages
Write and link these 3 pages (use a free online generator or ChatGTP)
- Privacy Policy (data collection info)
- Disclaimer (affiliate links, not professional advice, etc)
- Terms of Service (site usage rules)
7. Customize Before Launch
- Add your brand colours and fonts
- Customize your homepage, menus and widgets
- Write your About page
- Create an icon in Canva (512×512 pixels)
8. Write 4 Blog Posts
- Pick 4 topics you love
- Publish them before you launch
- Make it feel like a real, lived-in blog
9. Do a Content Day
- Take brand photos of yourself, your space, and your favorite things
- Use them on your homepage, sidebar, About page, etc.
- Tip: Upload these photos in Jetpack so you always have them available and optimized for uploading!
10. Launch Your Blog!
- Share your blog on Instagram (carousel, BTS, story)
- Make multiple Pinterest pins per post
- Post in Facebook groups (where allowed)
- Add your blog link to your bios everywhere
- Re-share your content regularly — especially on Pinterest!
Helpful Tools After You Launch
If you’re looking to optimize your blog, two tools I highly recommend are Google Analytics and the Jetpack plugin. Google Analytics allows you to track your website traffic and see which posts are performing best, helping you understand what your audience loves most. Meanwhile, the Jetpack plugin (and its app) adds valuable features like better security, mobile editing (the BEST!), and other helpful extras (like real time insights on your dashboard) that make managing your blog easier and more efficient on the go.
Final Advice:
- Don’t overdo it — 2–4 posts per week is plenty
- Focus on connecting, not perfecting
- You don’t have to be a tech genius — just start!
If you’re someone who likes a step-by-step breakdown (with screenshots and more hand-holding through the setup process), I’ve written a full how-to blog post that walks you through each part of getting your blog off the ground—from choosing a name to customizing your theme.
