If youโ€™re a busy mom feeling offโ€ฆ low energy, foggy, and not quite yourself or like youโ€™re moving through molasses, youโ€™re not alone. This quick simple wellness reset helps you feel grounded again without overcomplicating your day.

In this post, Iโ€™m going to show you exactly what I do when I feel off, so you can reset your body, shift your energy, and get back into your rhythm without adding pressure to your day.

Iโ€™ve had so many mornings and afternoons where Iโ€™m standing in my kitchen or sitting in my living room, feeling almostโ€ฆ dazed. Like itโ€™s an out of body experience. But kids are still asking for snacks, laundry is still half done, the kitchens still a mess. I just feelโ€ฆ off. Not sick, not fully anxious, just disconnected from myself and my body.

I share more on mental load, quick nervous system and wellness resets in these blog posts here:

But sometimes I just need a quick physical reset I can just reach for, instead of waiting for a full reset day that never comes.

Why You Might Feel Off (And Why Itโ€™s More Physical Than You Think)

Before I walk you through my steps, I want to say this clearly. Feeling off does not always mean something is deeply wrong. I am also not a medical professional and this is not medical advice. Please read my full disclaimer here.

    Sometimes it simply means:

    • You havenโ€™t eaten properly
    • Youโ€™re dehydrated
    • Youโ€™ve been overstimulated all morning
    • You havenโ€™t stepped outside

As moms, we live so much in our heads and in everyone elseโ€™s needs that we disconnect from our own physical baseline.

Sometimes when I started treating that โ€œoffโ€ feeling as something physical first, and reminded myself that my body matters too, it brought more balance in my life.

If you are feeling off mentally or like your nervous system just needs a break, read this post here about 5 quick grounding tips for moms in survival mode.

5 Quick Steps You Need When You Feel “Off”

Step 1: Hydrate and Stabilize Your Body

This is always my starting point, because it’s the easiest to forget.

Before I spiral, before I overthink, I ask:

Have I actually had water in the last few hours?

Most of the time, the answer is no.

Drinking a full glass of water, at least 500mL (2 cups), can be the quick reset your body needs. Mayo Clinic suggests at least 2,800mL of water a day (11 cups) a day for women. I like to think I drink a lot of water, but when I see that number I think maybe not enough!

I also like to mix in my favourite electrolytes here for added hydration, which is extra helpful on busy or hot days. Use code BRYANA25 to save 25% at checkout.

Step 2: Get Fresh Air & Change Your Environment

If I stay in the same space when I feel off, it gets worse.

Same mess. Same noise. Same stimulation.

Changing your environment can be so helpful.

    • Step outside for fresh air
    • Open windows and take a deep breath
    • Move to a different room
    • Sit in the sun for a few minutes, listen to the birds

Breathing in fresh air increases oxygen intake and lowers cortisol and blood pressure. Even 5 minutes helps me feel like Iโ€™ve interrupted the spiral. It’s truly amazing.

Step 3: Simply Reset Your Body

This is where I try to connect back into my body physically. It’s nothing complicated.

    Try:

    • Washing your face
    • Getting dressed
    • Quick movement like jumping jacks or stretching
    • Combining with step 2 and go for a walk outside

And something about that small reset helps me feel more awake, more put together, and more like myself again.

Here’s your gentle reminder that adding these to your day when your capacity is already low may not be helpful. These are for when your capacity is already at baseline. Read this post here about reducing demands to reduce levels of stress and overwhelm.

Step 4: Use Calming Methods to Shift Your Mood

This is one of the fastest ways I personally shift how I feel.

I use my favourite Saje oils and take a few slow, intentional breaths.

Nothing complicated. Just pause and breathe.

    It helps me:

    • Slow down
    • Interrupt spiraling thoughts
    • Come back into the present moment

This step is especially helpful when the โ€œoffโ€ feeling starts to turn into irritability or overwhelm.

    Step 5: Eat Something

This is arguably the most important step.

Do you remember that app back when smartphones first came out called Draw Something? The obsession was real. Everyone in my classes in school was playing it. I remember one of my teachers saying “Draw something?? How about READ something!!” Now, I’m more like “EAT SOMETHING!”

If you feel like you hate the world, chances are you just need to eat something. Some simple snacks to target your mind and body (and work fast):

    • Eggs and toast
    • Greek yogurt and granola
    • Protein shake with carbs
    • Peanut butter and fruit

Not a full meal and nothing complicated. Just something to get you through the moment and until the next meal.

Donโ€™t forget to feed yourself, mama.

What This Simple Wellness Reset Routine Taught Me

The biggest shift for me was realizing this: Feeling off is actually feedback.

It usually means Iโ€™ve drifted away from my basic needs:

    • Food
    • Water
    • Fresh air
    • Movement
    • Calm moments

And instead of judging myself, I now return to those basics.

    Not perfectly. Just intentionally.

How to Turn This Into Your Go-To Reset Rhythm

You do not need a full reset day. You need something repeatable.

Something simple you can return to again and again.

Hereโ€™s what mine looks like, all together:

    • Drink water + eat something simple
    • Change environment
    • Reset my body (less than five minutes)
    • Use scent + breath or something else grounding
    • Reset one small thing

Thatโ€™s it. Not perfection. Nothing complicated.

If youโ€™re in a season where everything feels a little heavier than usual, this is exactly why I create the resources inside my shop.
